The Oklahoma Democratic Party Statement on Women’s Health Week

OKLAHOMA CITY—MAY 9, 2022 – The Oklahoma Democratic Party issued the following statement at the start of National Women’s Health Week, following news last week that the Supreme Court is set to overturn Roe v. Wade, which would deal a devastating blow to women’s health and reproductive rights. In addition, this past weekend Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed a GOP majority could focus on a federal abortion ban.

“This Women’s Health Week, Oklahoma voters deserve to know that the Supreme Court is set to overturn the critical protections for women’s health in Roe v. Wade because of the radical anti-abortion agenda that Republicans have been pushing for decades,” stated Alicia Andrews, Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair.

“As if that wasn’t bad enough, Republicans have now opened the door to a federal abortion ban that could take their extreme agenda of eliminating women’s rights and further eroding health care access for women,” Andrews concluded.
