Welcome to the ODP Fellowship Application! The ODP is accepting applications for our Spring and Summer 2024 Fellowship Program!
Working with the ODP is a unique opportunity for hardworking, passionate future leaders to gain real life, hands-on experience in Democratic politics, strengthen their political process, and prepare them for future political opportunities.
The program will run from [March 25, 2024 - July 31, 2024] and will be conducted in a hybrid format. Fellows based in the Oklahoma City or Tulsa area will have an opportunity to perform in-person work for the ODP at the Oklahoma Democratic Party Headquarters & ODP events.
The ODP Fellowship Program provides a stipend totaling $500 a month ($250 will be given at the beginning and end of the month). During this term, fellows are expected to work 10-20 hours per week. The deadline for applicants is March 22, 2024.
Position Summary: As a fellow with the ODP, you will participate in department-specific substantive and administrative work. In addition, you will have opportunities to participate in grassroots organizing, assist at ODP functions, receive personal development training, and network with ODP leadership and staff.
Fellowship Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Perform department-specific duties
  • Assist staff by attending weekly staff meetings
  • Work directly with volunteers for various office duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before the first day of the fellowship and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution). It is highly recommended that applicants complete at least one full term prior to submitting an application.
  • A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent and has served on active duty, for any length of time, in the two years preceding the first day of the internship.
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Commitment of 10-20 hours per week during the program
  • Physically present in the United States to participate in this fellowship program

Data/Voter File Manager The Oklahoma Democratic Party, the state-wide organization responsible for mobilizing Democrats is looking for a Data/Voter File Manager in Oklahoma City.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with ODP staff and stakeholders to develop a comprehensive statewide data training program and analyze programs across departments to maximize efficiency and efficacy.
  • Manage the Data and IT needs of the ODP and assist as needed to address any problems.
  • Serve as primary administrator for Votebuilder (VAN) and handle all administrative functions.
  • Monitor, evaluate and implement VAN policy, in consultation with the Executive Director.
  • Complete regular internal system audits and prepare for upgrades.
  • Manage training of new users, and grow the VAN skill set across the organization.
  • Additional duties as determined by Executive Director, including but not limited to travel to Democratic meetings on behalf of the party, working with the Democratic Caucuses of the Oklahoma State Legislature, serving as liaison to the DNC and its partners, assisting with communications, outreach, and other departments as needed.
  • Assist the ODP with DNC Delegate Selection Plan.
  • Assist the State Secretary with creating and maintaining digital archives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES DESIRED
  • Must have a tremendous commitment to providing superb customer service.
  • Two cycles working Data or Field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong Experience with Excel or other data tools.
  • Experience with administrative tools in VAN, plus build custom reports, crosstabs, fields, processes and work flows, custom scores, and other content of intermediate complexity.
  • Experience with a ticketing system to track user support requests.
  • Preference for some experience with SQL and BigQuery/Phoenix in particular.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, GIS, or data visualization are a strong plus.
  • Excellent project management skills and a positive attitude.
  • Experience training people from diverse backgrounds and at various skill levels.
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects to a wide audience in a clear, succinct manner.
  • Creative and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving skills.

Field Director

The Oklahoma Democratic Party, the state-wide organization responsible for mobilizing Democrats, is looking for a Field Director Oklahoma City.  
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for executing statewide organizing and electoral programs in individual regions across Oklahoma.
  • Work to build local grassroots programs, including direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment and retention, development of training with county parties, and oversee testing of field techniques and tactics.
  • Implement grassroots field tactics, including phone banks and canvasses, organizing community gatherings and local issues forums.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and organizing follow-up of volunteers for further outreach activities.
  • Train, coach and mentor Field Organizes, canvassers and volunteers in best practices for volunteer recruitment, retention and mobilization.
  • Create specific accountability measures to identify areas of improvement. Ensure all voter contact data is entered into campaign data platform.
  • Engage with local stakeholders and community organizations to build support.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES DESIRED
  • At least two cycles of campaign experience. Strong working knowledge of VAN.
  • Familiarity with Google Drive suite, especially Google Sheets.
  • Proven ability to train.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with staff, volunteers and local stake­ holders from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain a level head in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Office/Operations Manager The Oklahoma Democratic Party, the state-wide organization responsible for mobilizing Democrats is looking for an Office/Operations Manager in Oklahoma City.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support the Executive Director in managing the following tasks for the ODP: manage accounts payable, provide all necessary financial materials to outside compliance firm, maintain office calendar, incoming and outgoing mail delivery, supply inventory, and general office maintenance, including preparation for guests, and answering the main phone line.
  • Organizing, prioritizing, and responding to large volumes of information, calls, and emails.
  • Responsible for processing daily invoices, bank transactions, financial reporting, contracts, and agreements.
  • Must become familiar with campaign compliance at both the State and Federal level.
  • Work with Treasurer and outside compliance firm to provide information to file all taxes, FEC, OEC, and other governmental documents.
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with property management and maintenance.
  • Procuring and maintaining office equipment/supplies and support Executive Director in managing vendor relationships.
  • Provide accurate and timely support to Chair regarding donor follow-up letters, thank you letters, and tracking sponsors.
  • Prepare for Central Committee meetings, ODP conferences/conventions, and other events, and to facilitate effective communications, both internally and externally.
  • Provide administrative support to the Chair and Executive Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
