Oklahoma Democratic Party Statement on President Biden Investing in Oklahoma Broadband
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, — JUNE 27, 2023 – The Biden-Harris administration’s Investing in America Agenda continues to deliver historic economic progress for Oklahoma – this time with a new investment in affordable, accessible high-speed internet. Thanks to President Biden’s leadership and once-in-a-generation investments in American communities, the BEAD (Broadband Equity Access and Deployment) Program will provide Oklahomans with an additional $797,44 million in funding to help bring reliable high-speed internet to communities across the state.
“We all know that high-speed internet service is necessary in 21st-century America. Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, thousands of Oklahomans will soon be able to access the reliable, affordable broadband they need to work, learn, and stay connected,” commented Alicia Andrews, Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair. “Trump and MAGA Republicans promised an ‘infrastructure week,’ but President Biden and Vice President Harris are actually delivering.”
Here’s how President Biden’s Invest in America agenda has already helped Oklahomans get connected:
- Under the Biden-Harris Administration, Oklahoma has already received $5,882,087 in funding to provide affordable, reliable high-speed internet to everyone in Oklahoma.
- Now, Oklahoma will receive an additional $797,44 million from the Administration’s historic Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program.
- Oklahoma households save $30-75 per month on high-speed internet through the Biden-Harris Administration’s Affordable Connectivity Program.
