DNC on America Passing 300,000 COVID-19 Deaths

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the United States passed 300,000 deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic:

“Every 30 seconds in America, a person dies of COVID-19. In America, the most powerful nation in the world, 300,000 people have lost their lives. This wasn’t inevitable. It wasn’t the result of bad luck. It was the result of bad leadership. Donald Trump’s mishandling of this pandemic will be remembered as one of the worst and deadliest blunders in presidential history. That’s why the American people voted for change last month. They voted for a president and vice president who will take bold action to protect their communities, end this pandemic, and get them back to work. We still have a lot of work to do to make sure vaccines are swiftly and effectively delivered to every corner of the country. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will lead the way as we rebuild our economy and our nation back better. Meanwhile, instead of ensuring an efficient and peaceful transfer of power, Trump continues his craven attempts to overturn the results of the election. And Republicans in Congress have refused to stand up to him. Their failure of leadership is costing lives every day, every minute, every 30 seconds. In the time it took you to read this statement, another two Americans died of COVID-19. We need Joe Biden’s leadership now more than ever.”
