(Oklahoma City)- The sudden and tragic death of Dr. Teena Nations has left us all stunned!  Having been long time friends and acquaintances of both Dr.Teena Nations and her husband Dr. Bill Nations, the sad news struck us especially hard.  Teena spent her life working in education, for the betterment of all children.  Her accomplishments were many, as were her honors and accolades.  However, she was not one to rest on her many laurels, she was still working on projects that ultimately were positive and supportive for children and youth.

During my tenure in the State Legislature, I had the honor of being a seatmate with Teena’s husband Bill.  We were neighbors in the State House, and were neighbors in the districts we represented.  I also had the honor and privilege of giving the nominating speech for Representative Nations’ bid to become Speaker of the House of Representatives. It always seemed to me that Teena was very proud of the accomplishments of her husband.  All these things and more have endeared me to Teena and Bill.  Also, during various campaigns, we would talk and discuss strategies.  Plainly, we have all suffered a great loss with Teena’s untimely passing.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bill and his family and friends, as I know we were all sadly surprised to learn the news about Teena.  She was a great friend to many, and especially to her husband Bill, and family.  She will be sorely missed!
