Where Trump Failed, President Biden Is Delivering For Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, — November 15, 2023 – Today, on the two-year anniversary of President Biden signing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair, Alicia Andrews, released the following statement:

“Over the past two years, communities throughout Oklahomans have been reaping the benefits of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law: rebuilt roads and bridges, renewed transportation programs, clean drinking water, affordable access to the internet, and more — all of which are boosting new good-paying jobs and building the economy from the bottom up and the middle out.

“Despite Donald Trump’s countless empty promises, these historic investments in infrastructure and the economy failed to materialize for Oklahomans under his watch as Trump turned “infrastructure week” into a running joke. Even Republicans who voted against the bill recognize that President Biden is delivering an infrastructure decade with no community left behind. As MAGA Republicans try to roll back the progress these investments are delivering to hand out tax breaks to the extremely wealthy and large corporations, today’s anniversary underscores how important it is that we reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris so they can continue to deliver and finish the job.”

Here’s how President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to deliver for Oklahoma:

Roads and Bridges: In Oklahoma, there are 2,207 bridges and over 917 miles of highway in poor condition. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will rebuild Oklahoma’s roads and includes the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the Interstate Highway System.

Internet: 150,718 households in Oklahoma are seeing lower internet costs thanks to the Affordable Connectivity Program — meaning most eligible households can now get high-speed internet without paying a dime.

Water: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law represents the largest investment in water infrastructure in American history, including the first-ever dedicated federal funding to replace lead service lines and address dangerous PFAS chemicals. To date, $233 million has been announced to provide clean and safe water and improve water infrastructure across Oklahoma.

Clean Energy and Power: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law also makes a historic investment in clean energy technologies like advanced nuclear, clean hydrogen, carbon capture, and batteries, as well as a historic $3.5 billion investment in weatherization to improve energy efficiency of homes and lower energy costs for impacted households by an average of $372 per year.

Airports: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invests $25 billion in airports to replace and modernize airport infrastructure, which helps the U.S. become more economically competitive globally, creates good jobs, and revitalizes and supports more efficient and enhanced traveler experience. To date, Oklahoma has received approximately $34.8 million for airports.

Ports and Waterways: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invests $17 billion in port infrastructure to strengthen our supply chains, address maintenance backlogs, and reduce congestion and emissions near ports — ultimately helping our country move goods more quickly and at lower cost. To date, Oklahoma has received roughly $133.3 million for ports and waterways.
