Oklahoma Democratic Party Denounces State Republicans’ Hateful Comments on Inauguration Day

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, January 20, 2021 – The chair of the Oklahoma Republican Party tried to steal the spotlight from President Biden’s inauguration with a divisive, repugnant rant that parrots Trump’s stale talking points.

“The words of David McLain on behalf of his party are truly disgusting. He is behaving like a bully in the schoolyard, who didn’t get his way,” said Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

“McLain’s awful statement stands in stark contrast to the thoughts expressed by our Congressional representatives, all of whom are Republicans. They each took the high road by calling for reconciliation and offered congratulations to President Biden and Vice President Harris. McLain should have talked with them before sending out his childish missive,” Andrews continued.

“If his whole meltdown wasn’t so sad, one could find irony in his calling corporations ‘fascist’ for removing Trump’s ability to lie and incite violence on their social media platforms. The real fascist, of course, is America’s former, disgraced, twice-impeached Republican president,” she said.

“That said, America is celebrating a new day, a new era full of hope and promise. We have much good to look forward to. I feel certain that McLain’s words will evaporate as quickly as the relevance of the man he continues to worship and adore,” concluded Andrews.
