Democrats Welcome Hofmeister

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, OCTOBER 7, 2021 – The Oklahoma Democratic Party welcomes Superintendent Joy Hofmeister to the Oklahoma Democratic Party. This addition is more than the commencement of a robust primary; it is also a signal that Oklahomans of good conscience are waking up to the extremism of the Republican Party in Oklahoma.

We look forward to our primary campaign and election and will enthusiastically support the nominee of our Party. As of October 7, 2021, this primary consists of former State Senator, Connie Johnson who announced her candidacy in May and current state Superintendent of Public Instruction, Joy Hofmeister, giving Oklahomans a real choice for new leadership.

“We welcome others who care about public education, good jobs with decent wages and benefits, who care about sensible public health policies and finding ways to provide medical care to Oklahomans and who care about equally administered justice and equal rights for all of our citizens….to join Joy Hofmeister in finding a home to the Democratic Party,” said Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

“Oklahoma has been subjected to an extreme right-wing ideology for too long and it has hurt our state and its citizens. Perhaps we are seeing this spell finally break,” said Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party,” concluded Andrews.
