Amid Green Waste Scandal, Who is Running the City of Tulsa?

TULSA– One of the largest cities in the state of Oklahoma is facing an $11 million budget shortfall due to poor management and reckless spending. It appears the buck does not stop with Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett’s office. Numerous problems have been discovered, after several investigative reports, including the budget shortfall and the misleading of Tulsans of the non-existent green waste program.

Mayor Bartlett argued he did not know about the green waste program’s failures because his city manager did not inform him; it then became apparent that Bartlett was no longer in charge. Now, it has been revealed that Bartlett requested a report on the program over a year ago.

“Either Dewey Bartlett is lying to Tulsa or he is not in charge–it has to be one or the other. Either way, Bartlett should be a leader and refund the money that paid for this non-existent program,” said ODP Chair Wallace Collins. “Morally, it’s the right thing to do.”

Unfortunately, taxpayers are on the hook as the city faces a $11 million budget shortfall and the money from the green waste project has been–wasted.
