The ODP Makes History Again – Elects First African American Woman Chair

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Democratic Party elected new leadership this past weekend, choosing Alicia Andrews to serve as Chair for the next two years.

Alicia, the former Tulsa Democratic Party Secretary, and local Realtor was elected Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Saturday, June 8th, 2019. She is the first African American and first African American Women in Oklahoma history to chair the Oklahoma Democratic Party. Andrews earned her degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma and has been a Real Estate Consultant for nearly 12 years.

Former ODP Secretary, Communication Workers of America (CWA) union organizer, and Carl Albert recipient, Dave Ratcliff from Tulsa, will be Vice-Chair. Tim O’Connor from Yukon, appointed Secretary this past Spring when Ratcliff stepped down, won the Secretary seat. O’Connor is the President of the Oklahoma Central Labor Federation AFL-CIO and an OPEIU member. Rachael Hunsucker, an accountant from Coweta, has held the Treasurer’s seat the past two years and was reelected, Treasurer.

Ashley McCray of Norman, Marguerite Leon McGuffin of Oklahoma City, Victor Gorin of Oklahoma City, and Ali Canada of Tulsa were elected to serve on the State Central Committee as Affirmative Action members.
