Stitt Violates Constitution Once Again

OKLAHOMA CITY—FEBRUARY 9 2022 – A recent audit has discovered that Stitt’s prepayments for $5.4 million in non-received goods violates the Oklahoma Constitution.

“This governor has shown time after time that he thinks he is above the law,” commented Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party. “According to the audit, not only did Stitt illegally pre-purchase personal protective equipment, PPE, which is not permitted by our Constitution, $80,000 was made in finder’s fees which lacked legal authority by the Public Health Code.

“Oklahomans should be very concerned by Stitt’s corrupt act in misusing tax dollars as well as his disregard for authority,” Andrews continued.

“Additionally, former Attorney General Mike Hunter requested the audit but was conveniently replaced by Stitt’s own appointed crony, A.G. John O’Connor. O’Connor has publicly stated that he didn’t want this audit released, yet through an Open Records request, the public is now aware of Stitt’s violations.

“It’s obvious that Stitt wanted to keep this violation and misuse of Oklahoma taxpayers’ money hush during an election year. What else is Stitt hiding? This newest violation, as well as the numerous other overstepping-authority-acts that both the Oklahoma and U.S. Supreme Courts have ruled, should be a huge warning sign that Oklahoma cannot allow another four years of leadership under this governor,” Andrews concluded.
