Republicans are Scared

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Democratic Party is officially joining the Vote By Mail movement during the COVID-19 crisis. The ODP supports changes in the voting process that insures the safety and well being of voters and simplifies the mail in process.

We are calling on our state legislators to remove barriers to safe voting by mail like removing the mandatory notary from mail in ballots so that all Oklahomans can safely exercise their right to vote.

But our Republican counterparts are against a state- and nation-wide push to make mail in ballots more accessible to voters because they know that the numbers benefit Democrats. The GOP continues to resist expanding voting rights and making the process easier for all voters. Their own Party Chair, Ronna McDaniel just recently accused Democrats of plotting ballot harvesting and undermining the voting process. Republicans fear a fair democratic process that may turnout more Democrats come November than protecting voting rights for everyone.

Democratic Party chairpersons from across the United States, including our own Chair, Alicia Andrews, have co-signed a letter to Congress strongly urging them to support state efforts to expand early voting, vote by mail, voter registration and voter education. We cannot wait to take action to safeguard the voting process that preserves voter’s rights when casting ballots.

As Democrats continue this fight, the Oklahoma Democratic Party urges voters to practice safe voting and sign up early to Vote By Mail and protect your rights. Voters can visit VoteByMail.okdemocrats.org to sign up online and review their voter information.
