Davis Must Resign Now

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Democratic Party has released the following statement on Representative Dean Davis’s (R-Broken Arrow) threats against constituents after DUI arrest:

No one is above the law, including our public officials. After being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and obstructing an officer, Davis placed phone calls from jail where he claims that Broken Arrow has made an enemy and he will get revenge. This type of behavior is unacceptable for a leader of our State.

Davis ran his 2018 election campaign on representing the same Broken Arrow constituents he now threatens. He promised that he would govern on a code of morals, ethics, and professionalism. Davis has not only failed to keep his word but has also demonstrated that he is not capable of accountability and responsibility for his own mistakes; to the contrary, he is projecting his anger on the innocent people who elected him to the Legislature.

Oklahomans deserve better representation than an elected official attempting to weasel out of a grave mistake by seeking to skirt the system and play the “good ole boys” game of scratching each other’s back for favors, but also one that lacks honesty, accountability, and integrity. Davis put out a statement claiming that he will ensure that this doesn’t happen again. Rep. Dean Davis can begin by stepping down immediately and resigning as a representative of Oklahoma! He owes his constituents the opportunity to elect someone with honor to fill this seat and one who takes their oath of office with true moral high ground.
