Oklahoma Democratic Party Agrees with Judge Blocking HB 1674

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, OCTOBER 28, 2021 – “An Oklahoma City judge blocked HB1674 from taking effect on Monday, citing constitutional vagueness,” said Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

“The bill, the anti-freedom of speech, anti-right to peaceably assemble bill was just another endeavor by the Republicans to silence the constitutional rights of Oklahomans. This cookie cutter retaliatory bill that was shopped all over the nation should never have passed nor been signed by the governor,” said Andrews.

“Instead of Republicans enacting punitive unconstitutional bills, lawmakers and law enforcement should do more to work together and engage with community leaders to understand better the oppressive systemic biases over which protesters are so deeply concerned,” concluded Andrews.
