Romney’s “Fifty Shades of Gray”

Mitt Romney and the Republican’s war on women was on display last night during the 2nd Presidential Debate. During a question regarding equality for women in this country, Romney failed to understand the real issue by saying that he collected “binders full of women”. This is shocking to know that a candidate for President in the 21st century thinks of women like a recipe he can just whip up when it is convenient.

If you cannot see the video, click here.

After his campaign’s previous failure of responding “we’ll get back to you on that” in reference to whether or not women should receive equal pay for equal work.

Plus, his tirade against planned parenthood and access to birth control, which makes an economic impact in the lives of women. “Planned Parenthood? Yeah we’re going to get rid of that.”

His claim to fame is being a good businessman, but if you’re in business for 25 years and you can’t think of one qualified woman for your Governor’s cabinet–that should speak volumes to women.

We need your support to help elect Democratic candidates that know and understand women’s issues!

MITT ROMNEY CALLS E-VERIFY STANDARD FOR NATION

While Mullin Runs for the Border

Oklahoma City, OK—In the second of three Presidential debates, Republican nominee Mitt Romney said, “the e-verify portion of the Arizona law…that was a model for the nation.” [New York Times, 10/16/2012]

“Left or right, Oklahomans care about the safety and security of our country and our state,” said Oklahoma Democratic Party Vice Chair Dana Orwig. “E-verify is a free tool that represents the Republican Party’s standard for the nation, in terms of background checks.”

Republican Congressional candidate Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) refuses to use e-verify, which is provided for free by the Department of Homeland Security. It enables employers to do background checks on criminal activity, and confirm the citizenship status of prospective employees.

“Why does Mullin continue to lie to the people of the 2nd District? Is it because he hired at least three convicted felons, who could have been working in your home?” asked Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman Wallace Collins.

WALLACE OUTRAISES MULLIN AGAIN!

Mullin Propped Up by PAC Money

Oklahoma City, OK—It was announced today that Democrat Rob Wallace, candidate for Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District, raised more money than his Republican opponent, Markwayne Mullin, which marks the fifth consecutive time to do so for the campaign.

“Rob is a great candidate who has real grassroots support,” said Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman Wallace Collins.

According to financial reports from the Federal Election Commission, Rob Wallace has received donations from over 1600 individuals during his campaign. Mullin has only received donations from approximately 430 individuals.

In addition, since the last reporting period, over 40% of Mullin’s donations have come from PACs.

Chairman Collins commented, “When you look at the numbers, it’s clear who the special interests have in their pocket.”

WHERE IS THE REPUBLICAN OUTRAGE?

Pinnell’s Silence on His Candidates’ Criminal Activities is Deafening

Muskogee, OK—After releasing a website that attacks and misleads voters, Matt Pinnell should address the hypocrisy of endorsing, supporting and funding a slate of Republican candidates who have criminal histories. “ Once again, Matt Pinnell, supports a group of Republican candidates to write laws for the rest of us, but don’t feel the need to follow the law themselves. Why didn’t he create a website attacking Scott Biggs, who as a prosecutor seized guns and allowed a domestic abuser get off. Does Matt Pinnell support Scott Biggs?,” asked Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman Wallace Collins.

In another glaring example of hypocrisy, Pinnell continues to support a candidate who has done exactly what his website criticizes Democrats for doing. Scott Biggs, HD 51 botched many cases—in one, he let a man who severely beat his girlfriend off with a slap on the wrist misdemeanor and refused to return a family’s guns.

Vice-Chair Dana Orwig, who is a deacon commented, “ The Republicans claim to be the party of family values, but they sure are terrible at supporting Republicans who are good role models for our children and grandchildren.”

MULLIN USES FEDERAL STIMULUS MONEY TO SEND FELONS INTO CUSTOMERS’ HOMES?

MULLIN USES FEDERAL STIMULUS MONEY TO SEND FELONS INTO CUSTOMERS’ HOMES?
“jeopardizes customers to line his own pockets…”

Oklahoma City – While defending his position against E-verify, a free service provided by the Department of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin stated, “but we run a very strong background check, we’re required to run a background check that costs me over $125 per employee because we work in customers’ houses…” Timothy Saylor, a twice convicted felon, was arrested while working for Mullin’s plumbing company.

The Mullin campaign claims, “All Mullin employees are subjected to a background check. No individual with any felony conviction is hired to make home service calls.” (Washington Times, June 20, 2012)

“What audacity, to criticize the President who is trying to create jobs and then use our tax dollars to endanger the people of Oklahoma. If he didn’t do a background check on his employees, why did he lie about it? At some point Mr. Mullin needs to come clean and be honest with the people,” stated Vice Chair Dana Orwig.

Saylor, hired by Markwayne Mullin to work at his plumbing business has been convicted of two felonies. One of Saylor’s charges was “threaten crime with the intent to terrorize”. Mullin has also hired at least two other individuals with felony backgrounds – David Hawley, who has numerous drug convictions, and Cory Gunckel, a man with convictions involving drugs, stolen vehicles and weapons.

“Markwayne Mullin received almost $370,000 in tax dollars to build his business and sends convicted felons into the homes of customers…I shudder to think what could have happened to our mothers, sisters, and daughters. If he can’t protect his customers how can he be trusted to protect our country?” concluded Oklahoma Democratic Party, Chairman Wallace Collins.
