DNC on Court Ruling in Favor of Trump’s Title X Gag Rule

DNC Women’s Media Director Elizabeth Renda issued the following statement after a panel of three Republican-appointed judges on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Trump’s rule to strip Title X funding from health care providers like Planned Parenthood can take effect nationwide:

“Today’s court ruling in favor of Trump’s unconstitutional Title X gag rule is a direct threat to millions of low-income women and their families’ access to health care. Each year, 4 million Americans rely on Title X for affordable birth control and reproductive health care. Trump’s gag rule would kneecap this critical program by barring health care providers across the country from telling patients how and where they can access an abortion. This is a declaration of all-out war on women’s access to health care.

“From day one, the Trump administration has attempted to chip away at women’s basic rights and freedoms by pushing policies that would take health care from millions of Americans, eliminate protections for sexual assault survivors, and strip women of their ability to make decisions about their own bodies with their doctors. Women are the core of the Democratic Party, and we will never stop fighting against this administration’s relentless attacks on our health care.”
