Democrats Call for Accountability and Transparency for 1775 Vote

OKLAHOMA CITY – House Minority Leader Emily Virgin, D-Norman, released the following statement after the House reconsidered House Bill 1775.

The legislation was reconsidered due to an “anomaly” in the legislation according to House Republican leadership.

“I’m always concerned when a member won’t go into detail about why we are suspending rules on legislation,” Virgin said. “Oklahomans didn’t send us here to hide our actions from them. In fact, they demand that we act in the open. Every time we suspend rules or bend precedence, we are contributing to the public’s distrust of state government. I hope my Republican colleagues think about that the next time they want to take the easy road and suspend the rules they created.”
