Advocate for Women and Girls Announces for House District 85

Oklahoma City – A community leader and advocate for women and girls announced today that she is running for the Oklahoma House of Representatives in House District 85.

“I am running because I believe we must make funding for education a priority and we must continue to foster a community that moves our economy forward,” said Cyndi Munson. “We must focus on working together and elect leaders that have a plan for Oklahoma’s future. I believe I am that leader.”

Cyndi is the Community Programs Manager for Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma. There she is responsible for curriculum development and implementation, membership growth, and grant management of In-School, Public Housing, and Girl Scouting in Detention Center programs. She is an alumni member of Leadership Oklahoma City’s LOYAL Class VIII, secretary of the University of Central Oklahoma Alumni Association Board of Directors, president of the Greater Oklahoma City Sigma Kappa Alumnae Association and a graduate of National Education for Women’s (N.E.W.) Leadership Institute. She mentors families and children at HopeHouse OKC and is an active member of The Vine Community Church in Oklahoma City.

“My life has been spent serving Oklahoma and striving to make the world a better place for women and girls in our state. I have traveled across our state and have heard the stories of the challenges many Oklahomans face. I have decided to step up to do my part to improve the quality of life for my fellow Oklahomans. I have dedicated my life to serving others and I hope to continue my service at the State Capitol.”

House District 85 is located in Northwest Oklahoma City and includes the Lake Hefner area, The Village, Nichols Hills, Crown Heights and the Western Corridor. It is currently represented by David Dank and is up for re-election in November of 2014.
