Oklahoma Legislator Continues to Spew Hate, Antagonizing Muslims

OKLAHOMA CITY– Representative John Bennett (R-Sallisaw) continues with his anti-Muslim bigotry and is an embarrassment to the Oklahoma Legislature. During Thursday’s Muslim Day at the Capitol where people could meet with elected officials, Bennett handed out a questionnaire riddled with hate and misinformation from the Islamic-hate group, Act for America, requiring a written response before Bennett would accept meetings with Oklahoma Muslims.

Examples of questions which cited the Koran, asked if you believed in Sharia law ruling over non-Muslims, and “Do you beat your wife?”

What will it take for our Governor and Republican Legislators to stand up and denounce Bennett’s behavior? Why do Republicans continue to turn a blind eye and ignore Bennett’s hateful fearmongering actions? It is time for our state leaders to stand up against bigotry! Bennett’s continued unprofessional leadership is its own “cancer” on the Oklahoma Legislature, and it is time for the Republicans to make it clear that they do not support Bennett and his hate.
