Oklahoma Democratic Party Hosts Statewide Candidate Training

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Democratic Party released the following statement on Candidate Training and the first day of candidate filing:

Over 115 Democrats filed on the first day of filing as teachers from all over the state continued their walk out at the Capitol. The eight-day walk out has spurred more teachers to run for office and has energized overwhelming support for proper educational funding.

The Oklahoma Democratic Party was on sight to congratulate candidates and hand out informational packets to newly filed Democratic candidates. Packets include information about available tools and resources as well as information on Saturday, April 14th Candidate Training at the Metro Technology Center in Oklahoma City.

The Candidate Training is sponsored by the Oklahoma Democratic Party and the National Democratic Training Committee to help first-time candidates get their campaigns off the ground. Democratic candidates interested in registering to attend the Saturday training are encouraged to sign up at okdlive.wpengine.com.

Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Anna Langthorn stated, “We must ensure that we provide candidates with the right tools they need to speak to voters, so they understand what choices they have for this year’s election. This is an important election year, and our candidates deserve to have the Party’s support behind their efforts.”

The ODP has had a booth set up at the Capitol every day of the teacher walk out and will continue their presence registering voters and taking candidate information. Democratic staff and volunteers will remain at the Capitol during filing to hand out informational packets. Democratic Candidates with questions about resources and tools are encouraged to call the ODP office at 405-427-3366 or visit the website okdlive.wpengine.com.
