Time To Register for Nov. 7 Election; Deadline is Oct. 13

Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman Lisa Pryor said today all Oklahoma Democrats are needed to ensure victory in November.

"The time is now. It is imperative to register to vote by Oct. 13. That is the deadline for the November 7 election and we need all Oklahoma Democrats to stand up and have their vote counted," Pryor said. "Register and get to the polls. There's still time to register and every voter counts. We are asking every Oklahoman who wants effective, accountable and responsive government to vote November 7th. If you have had enough of Republican incompetence and bullying then you can change your party registration through Oct. 13th."

A special voter registration party is being hosted by Senate District 46 Nominee Andrew Rice on Oct. 12. Rice will co-host a voter registration party with Wayne Coyne, the lead singer of the Flaming Lips in downtown Oklahoma City. Rice said the event is geared to voters age 18-28. He said it is a great opportunity to ensure you are registered by the Oct. 13 deadline.

In another targeted maneuver aimed at the 18-28 voters, Pryor said Oklahoma Democrats can now begin the process of registration using text messaging. Using a cell phone, voters are able to text the keyword "okdems" to the number 75444. The voter will receive a text message back from www.mobilevoter.org , asking a few questions.

Pryor is challenging every County Party Chairman in Oklahoma to either register 100 new voters or one percent of their total county population.

"Every voter counts and in the final days before registration, we hope to register more Democrats than ever before. It is that critical for the November election," Pryor said. "Democrats have a reason to be excited this campaign season and we need all Oklahoma Democrats to respond at the polls. New voters can have a crucial effect and help ensure our victory. Democrats believe in protecting the values that are important to all Oklahomans - community, accountability, personal responsibility and accountability. I encourage you to do your part - register as a Democrat and exercise your right to vote."

Pryor said new Oklahoma citizens or voters who would like to switch party affiliations have until Oct. 13 to register.
