ODP Staff Visits
Alfalfa County; ODP Chair Next
Oklahoma Democratic
Party (ODP) staffers Courtney Ruark and Lindsey Cox
were the featured speakers of the Alfalfa County Democratic
Party's monthly meeting on June 5th. Rurark and Cox
updated the group on the ODP's goals and objectives
for the 2006 election cycle.
"2006 is going to be huge election
year for Oklahoma -- maybe the most important in history,"
said Ruark, a Democratic National Committee Field
Organizer. "We all know Oklahoma is a great place
to live, work and raise a family, but we have work
to do to elect Democrats in Oklahoma."
The ODP presentation to Alfalfa Democrats
focused on grassroots organization and Get out the
Vote efforts.
"Getting just ten more voters
per precinct to polls in 2006 will help us elect Democrats
in federal, state and local office," Ruark said.
"We have an incredible opportunity before us
and we, as Oklahoma Democrats, must seize the moment.
We must re-elect Governor Brad Henry, we must defend
the Democratic seats in the State Senate and pick
up votes in the State House of Representatives."
Ruark said the ODP staff is committed
to helping Democratic candidates organize their campaigns,
raise money and communicate their message of Democratic
values like community, accountability; responsibility
and equality.
Lisa Pryor, chair of the Oklahoma Democratic
Party, plans to visit Alfalfa County on July 14 for
a watermelon feed in Carmen. She will join Democratic
District Attorney Candidate John Stake at the event.
