Voters Give Governor Positive Rating
Seventy-three percent of Oklahoma voters
gave Governor Brad Henry a favorable rating according
to a new public opinion poll released Wednesday. State
Democratic Party Chair Lisa Pryor said voters understand
that Henry is honest, hard working and dedicated to
the people and values of Oklahoma.
"The reason voters respect
Governor Brad Henry so much is because he is grounded
in the Oklahoma values of faith, family, and responsibility,"
Pryor said. "He has been and will continue to
be a strong, independent leader who is making real
progress for all Oklahoma families. He is forward
thinking and aggressive in making Oklahoma a better
place to live and work. "
Pryor said Henry has kept his promises
to Oklahoma voters and that is one reason why his
popularity is so high.
"He has delivered at every turn,"
Pryor said. "He gave voters an opportunity to
vote on the Education Lottery, an issue that was approved
overwhelmingly by voters. He is improving education
statewide by raising teacher pay and increasing classroom
resources. He is delivering tax relief to middle class
families. He is making Oklahoma safer by developing
an 'anti-Meth' law that is now the national standard."
Pryor said the poll, conducted last
week by a national public opinion research firm, reflects
the fact that Oklahomans prefer Democrats in navigating
a positive direction for continued in the state.
