Two Oklahomans Appointed to At-Large
Positions with Democratic National Committee

Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Lisa Pryor said two native Oklahomans were recently appointed to committees within the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Jay Parmley, currently the DNC Liaison for the Mississippi Democratic Party, and Kalyn Free, founder and president of INDN's List, were appointed by Chairman Howard Dean during the DNC Fall Meeting held in Phoenix, AZ.

"These two appointments give Oklahoma six members on the DNC; four elected and two appointed as at-large members," said Democratic State Party Chair Lisa Pryor.

Parmley, who previously served two terms as the Oklahoma Democratic State Party Chair, is originally from Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Free, a 2004 candidate for Congress, is originally from Red Oak. In 2005 she established INDN's List, an organization dedicated to developing Democratic American Indian political candidates.

"Democrats can succeed in 2006 and Oklahomans will help make that a reality," said Pryor.

Besides the two appointees by Gov. Dean, -- Parmley and Free - Oklahoma Democrats voted Pryor, ODP Vice-Chair Ben Odom, Betty McElderry, of Purcell, and Jim Frasier, of Tulsa, to serve as DNC National Committee Members.
