ODP Seeks Summer
Interns:
The
Oklahoma Democratic Party, headquarters located in
Oklahoma City, seeks summer interns. The internships
are available for those who want to work in politics,
from field work to communications. Interns are
invited to work and gain college credit at the same
time. 2007 is an exciting time to be a Democrat,
a busy time for our office, and a great time for you
to gain experience working with various party officials,
activists and legislators.
The
ODP interns are mainly responsible for general office
tasks including, but not limited to answering phones,
writing, researching, running errands, staffing events
and data basing. If an intern shows an expertise
in a certain area or a desire to learn about a specific
portion of the party's duties, his or her tasks will
most likely be adjusted to fit those circumstances. In
the past, interns have helped plan and staff events,
knocked doors, done research and participated in other
crucial and educational tasks.
Specific
tasks have included:
- Working
within our most valuable tool, our voter file.
- Researching
Democratic performance at the county and precinct
level, using NCEC.
- Planning
DNC national organizing events.
- Reaching
out to young voters to volunteer, through myspace
and facebook.
- Contacting
voters and activists.
- Assisting
with event planning for the party and for candidates.
This
summer, interns will most likely participate in the
above, and will also help us track presidential candidates
and prepare for the presidential primary.
If
you have any questions, please contact Intern Coordinator
Courtney Ruark at 405.427.3366. Resumes should
be submitted to cruark@okdemocrats.org
or faxed
to 405.427.1310. We would like to hold interviews
the first of May, so please send information by May
4th .
Requirements:
- A
commitment of 20 hours per week, or two full days
in the office per week. We cannot accept interns
who cannot meet the minimum time requirement. We've
found that you will have a better and more productive
experience if you meet this commitment.
- A
love for Democratic politics.
- A
good work ethic.
- And,
last, but not least, a sense of humor.
